Painted in 2020 by Sean Rush, Goddess of the Sahara Moon is executed in oil and radiant 24-karat gold leaf on expansive Belgian linen. In this work, Rush channels the divine feminine through both form and symbol. The subject is depicted wearing subtle, gazelle-like antlers-symbols of celestial authority, femininity, and graceful resilience.

Her visage is softly rendered with realistic warmth, while her hair and the surrounding space dissolve into abstract geometric strokes, suggesting her emergence from the earthly realm into the cosmic. A luminous gold halo intensifies her transcendent presence.

The antlers recall lunar and horned goddesses across cultures, closely echoing Hathor’s crescent moon crown and emphasizing regenerative, divine qualities.
