Completed in 2015, Brilliance is an intimate portrayal of a horse that fuses realism with spiritual resonance. Rush’s muted palette—soft creams, ochres, and pale teal—plays against earth-toned line work to shape the form. The bridle’s subtle diagonals guide the eye while the coffee stain on the canvas becomes part of the surface narrative, adding texture, history, and an element of time. The mottled background echoes natural sediment and lends a dreamlike stillness.
