As a boy, Sean Rush spent long days drawing the horses who grazed in fields near his home.

Perhaps this early engrossment, a boy giving complete attention, a specific and chosen loss of self and time, help explain the connection Sean feels to his first subject.  It is a connection that gleams through the portraits he paints of individual animals.

After meeting and spending time with a horse, Sean usually works from his West Palm Beach studio, but he does make himself available for commissions worldwide.

His paintings of horses convey power, majesty and the spiritual nature of the horse. Sean captures details of expression, musculature and gesture that anyone who loves horses will recognize as true. And somehow his images carry the feeling of sensitivity and awareness which is also an intrinsic part of a horse’s nature.
